" The less its about me, the better it is for the business" [founder, Hippie Pants]
In this weeks Sustainability Sunday blog post, [which is a day late, due to the bank holiday and me thinking it was Sunday today!!] we head to South America [Brazil, to be exact!] to meet the founder of Hippie Pants
W&J: What prompted you to work in the ethical field?
H.P: We never had a clothing business before and actually never considered any other type of production.
Whats your long game? What goals do you hope to acheive through running your business?
We'd love to find synergies between Brazilian and Thai NGOs and help build cultural bridges them.
How do you intend to get there?
Firstly we need to focus on our business so we can grow to a size where we can have a more significant impact. Then we will seek to leverage our unique position and know-how of Thailand/Brazil.
Whats the single most important thing you've learnt about yourself through running your business / brand?
That the less it is about me, the better it is for the business.
If you could give a piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?
Focus on hiring the right people, it's the key to success.
What can we expect to see from you in the coming 6/12 months?
New Plus Size collections and Thai Kimonos.
Who are your ethical brand heroes and why?
We love what Insecta Shoes are doing here in Brazil. They are upcycling in a vegan, ethical and innovative way.
whats the soundtrack to your working day?
Our favourite soundtrack is the sound of nature, we're windows open and breeze flowing kind of people!
